Have you heard all the hype about Invisalign® and the idea piqued your interest, but you are skeptical that a clear, plastic liner can actually change the alignment of your teeth? Many people are conditioned to believe that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably it. However, when it comes to Invisalign, it really is that good and it really is true! Join us in today’s post as we discuss how Invisalign teeth straightening works.

At Upland Laser Dental Center, Dr. Dat Nguyen and his team have used Invisalign to correct hundreds of smiles in Upland. Our office is home to our very own iTero Element 2 digital teeth scanner that offers the capability for chairside digital simulation of your teeth. Dr. Nguyen can manipulate the images to create your teeth straightening plan right before your eyes and submit your scan to Invisalign to begin creating your clear liners before you even leave the office!

How Invisalign® Corrects Your Smile

Invisalign is a highly customized process for creating individual treatment plans for correcting teeth misalignments to create a straighter smile. Invisalign works similarly to traditional metal braces by redirecting teeth into a pattern that corrects misalignments. The first step in the process is to visit your dentist who will use a digital scanner to create a 3D image of your teeth. Once this is done, you and your dentist can then manipulate the images to create your ideal smile. The digital casts of your “before” and “after” will be sent to the Invisalign liner plant where Invisalign experts will create a series of liners that progressively alter your smile.

Progress Over Time

Once your Invisalign liners are done being created, your dentist will call you back in for a fitting. Your dentist will ensure that your liners are comfortable for wear and don’t rub on your gums or cause discomfort in any way. Once they are fitted and comfort ensured, you’ll begin wearing your liners, advancing to the next set every two weeks. You should follow-up with your doctor every six to eight weeks to ensure correct fit and that the liners are working the way they should. Over the next few months, you’ll notice a progressive change in the alignment of your teeth without causing damage to your enamel and inside of your mouth that traditional metal braces can.

Progress On Your Time

Invisalign liners offer the convenience of removal when you need to. Although we recommend you wearing your liners as much as you can, you can remove your liners to eat, perform, mouth hygiene, and to wear protective mouth guards during contact sports.
